EXHIBITION

CONFESSIONS of a NIGHT OWL is the first RETROSPECTIVE SERIES exhibition featuring Susan Pilcher, a New Romney-based photographer, who takes a unique approach to photographing the Marsh: every shot is taken at the dead of night, giving her audience an unusual and intriguing view of local structures and its star-filled skies.
Susan had her first exhibition with JAM on the Marsh in 2017, showing Romney Marsh at night. In 2018 she returned to the festival with an exhibition continuing the night-time theme involving unidentified objects, many created by her, rather than featuring the Marsh’s most familiar landmarks. Many of these images explored the Romney Marsh night sky whilst adding breath-taking effects of orbs, steel wool spinning and light painting, using coloured lights, torches and steel wool.
