Late Night Music: Six Meditations
Jonathan Dove · composer & pianist
Towards the end of 2021, Jonathan Dove — one of the most performed living opera composers today — was asked to write music to accompany poems about silence. This led him back to earlier pieces: one from a 1993 dance score, another from a film about architect Carlo Scarpa. Reimagined for solo piano and joined by four new works, they became Late Night Music: Six Meditations for a quiet mind. Gently immersive and sustained by pedal resonance, the music flows like ripples in still water — a nocturnal journey into stillness, introspection, and the gradual arrival of morning light.
In this special performance, the composer himself takes to the piano to perform his own works.
There will be no Festival Shuttle Bus available for this performance.
