JAM Masterclass Series
in collaboration with VOCES8
The JAM Masterclass Series 2022 is a composition course in choral writing aimed at emerging UK-based composers. A £500 commission prize will be awarded to the winner of this series to compose a new piece for March 2023. Free to apply and open to all UK-based composers of any age.

Workshop

St Leonard's Church, Hythe, Kent
A maximum of six submissions will be chosen for a workshop in JAM on the Marsh with the acclaimed vocal group VOCES8 led by international composer, Paul Mealor
You must be able to attend the workshop in person to participate
BONUS: workshop participants will receive a free ticket to the VOCES8 concert at 7:00pm in St Leonard's Church, Hythe as a part of the 2022 JAM on the Marsh festival.

Following from the Workshop in JAM on the Marsh, participants must complete their pieces by 2 September 2022 for this performance.
At the performance, one composer will be awarded the President's Commission, a £500 award to compose a piece for JAM's 'Music of Our Time' concert in March – opening its 2023 season.
The Masterclass Series offered a brilliant opportunity to explore writing for brass quintet, which is something I’ve never done before. JAM's Masterclass videos from Onyx Brass encouraged me to compose for the quintet in a more liberated way.
