Crowdfunding for the community

JAM needs your support

From 19-26 March, JAM will run its first ever Big Give crowdfunding campaign, for one of its most ambitious projects to date – the JAM on the Marsh Festival Orchestra.

The Festival Orchestra brings together talented community players from all ages and backgrounds with established musicians. The idea for this multigenerational professional-amateur orchestra developed from the triumphant performance of Richard Peat’s community oratorio The Sky Engine, which saw local amateur players rehearse with and perform alongside professional musicians of the London Mozart Players. Watch here.

The extremely positive feedback from the audience, community participants and professionals has encouraged us to go further and embrace and nourish the skills of the local underserved players in a multigenerational Pro-Am orchestra.

“A fantastic, inspiring opportunity. I would love to learn and perform with LMP again. There’s nothing here otherwise.”-

JAM is looking for musicians from our community to be part of a new, free-to-participate Festival Orchestra, made up of amateur players and members of the London Mozart Players (LMP), which celebrates its 75th birthday this year.

The Festival Orchestra will see musicians of the Romney Marsh get together with the London Mozat Players in several workshops, rehearsals and an unforgettable concert at JAM on the Marsh, where they will perform captivating music such as Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending.

In an area with little musical opportunity, the free-to-participate Festival Orchestra opens the doors to talented amateur players of all ages and backgrounds. It will boost skills, ambition and confidence and benefit the local players and community audiences alike.

Launching our Festival Orchestra is exciting but expensive, particularly in these tough times for the Arts. JAM’s Festival Orchestra has been chosen to be part of the Big Give ‘Arts for Impact’ Campaign, which will double donations given to JAM by individuals between 19th – 26th of March. We hope to raise £5000 towards this thrilling project: £2500 from the public, £2500 from the Big Give. All funds raised will be invested into enabling and sustaining JAM’s Festival Orchestra, giving our under-served community the chance to play astounding music with first-class professionals and to create unforgettable experiences.

Please consider donating to JAM’s Arts for Impact Campaign and help us support the creativity and encourage the development of the Romney Marsh community.

SAVE the DATE: JAM’s fundraising campaign will run from 19 – 26 March
